The restaurant

After several years of working with Alain Reix at the Jules Verne or Haeberlin at the Auberge de l’Ile, Mireille and Jean Marc opened their own restaurant in Paris, just across the Place de l’Etoile. Asparagus from the Landes region, high quality free-range and labelled pork, vegetarian lasagna, homemade ice creams and sorbets, verbena from the garden, coffee from the Roi Mages, wines selected by Danièle Girault, Vieille Prune plum brandy from Louis Roque.
We love being loyal to our small producers, we change our menus every week, according to arrivals, season, inspiration…
We are happy to share our passion for quality products with you.

Chef de cuisine
I am born in Strasbourg, and the idea of cooking came to me by chance, thanks to a school friend… After I graduated with a diploma from the hotel school in Schiltigheim, a French chef in Germany has passed the real challenge and passion for this profession to me, while I worked as pastry cook in this restaurant, in the heart of the Black Forest! Then I worked 14 years with Alain Reix at the Table Gourmande, and after this I worked 6 years with Marc Haeberlin at the Jules Verne.
There I met Mireille, my wife, who at that time was florist for the Jules Verne… Together we opened the Café d’Angel in 1979.
I love strolling through markets on my own to find ideas, and I attach great importance to the products’ quality. I prefer homemade desserts, with little sugar but honey.
I often taste wines from all regions, even if I prefer wines from the Alsace region (the Zind-Humbrecht wine domain) or the Rhône Valley, while Mireille continues flourishing the Café d’Angel with great talent…
